May 28, 2019Landry Parish community is reeling after three young residents died in a domestic double murder-suicide in Port Barre on Tuesday.Port Barre Police Chief Deon Boudreaux identified the deceased as Skylar Kimble, 23, of Krotz Springs; Christopher Boudreaux, 23, of Hamburg; and Michael Dupont Jr., 25, of Palmetto. He said Kimble recently moved to Port Barre and Boudreaux’s family was from the Palmetto area.Chief Boudreaux named Dupont as Kimble’s ex-boyfriend and the shooter who killed Kimble and Chris Boudreaux before taking his own life.Boudreaux was the father of a young son, Christoper Lane Boudreaux, Jr., according to his obituary.Chief Boudreaux said the incident happened around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Pawnee Street, an area of single-family homes and mobile homes tucked less than a block off Saizan Avenue near Port Barre High School.The police dispatcher received a call from Dupont saying he had shot and killed his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend, and was preparing to kill himself, Chief Boudreaux said.Officers found Dupont dead in the living room and Kimble and Boudreaux deceased in the bedroom. All three suffered single gunshot wounds to the head from a 12-gauge shotgun, Chief Boudreaux said.The shootings took place in a mobile home belonging to Kimble, Chief Boudreaux said. The tree-lined property was cordoned off by police tape Tuesday as residents drove past the home.There was no sign of forced entry, and investigators believe Dupont either had a key from his time living at the residence or that the front door was left unlocked, the chief said. Officers also found a small, brown bulldog tied to a run cable on the home’s front porch. The dog was taken into police custody.Family members said the dog was co-owned by Kimble and Dupont when they were together, Chief Boudreaux said.Chief Boudreaux said investigators believe Dupont and Kimble separated in the past few months.
